Meet Ivan Garcia, Distribution Center Associate
Q: What’s the most unique aspect about working here?
A: The most unique aspect is definitely working in this small, close-knit environment with only four other people. It’s completely different from those massive warehouses where you’re just another number. Here, everyone knows each other’s names, we actually talk to each other throughout the day, and there’s this family-like atmosphere that you just don’t find in bigger companies. You don’t get lost in the shuffle or feel invisible.
Q: What do you enjoy doing to unwind?
A: My unwinding routine is all about channeling energy in the right direction, and it starts with cranking up some serious Pantera music. Then I hit the gym and focus on the big compound movements like squats and bench pressing, which are like meditation for me. When the weather’s nice, I love taking my bike out for long rides through different neighborhoods. It’s this perfect combination of physical activity and mental reset that helps me process the day and come back feeling refreshed.
Q: What do you like best about the company culture?
A: What I appreciate most is that we don’t work under the pressure of those brutal hourly quotas like they have at Amazon and other big companies. Here, the focus is on getting quality work done rather than just rushing through tasks to meet some arbitrary quota. The work environment feels more relaxed and human. We can actually take a moment to do things right instead of cutting corners just to hit numbers.
Q: Would you rather live in the city or in the country?
A: I’d definitely prefer to live somewhere right in the sweet spot between city and country, maybe 20 or 30 minutes outside the main urban area. I need that quiet, calm environment where I can actually hear myself think and decompress after long days of work. But I don’t want to be so far out that I’m completely cut off from civilization. I still want to be close enough to witness all the good people and the lively energy that cities bring, so I can tap into that excitement when I want it.
Q: Name one thing, either personally or professionally, you learned in the last year.
A: The most important thing I’ve learned this year while working here is patience, and let me tell you, that’s been a game changer for me. Before this job, I was always rushing through everything and getting frustrated when things didn’t go smoothly. But this work has taught me to slow down, think things through, and work through challenges step by step. This skill has spilled over into my personal life, too, making me better at everything I do.
Q: Where is your hometown?
A: I’m from Chicago Heights, where the streets are full of stories and the neighbors feel like family. It’s got that small-town charm with just enough city hustle to keep things interesting. We know how to cheer loudly on Friday nights and grill even louder on Sundays. And yes, our pizza loyalty runs deep.
Q: What is your favorite flooring?
A: I’ve got two clear favorites: wooden plank flooring from Mirage, which brings incredible warmth and character to any space, and tile in dark gray or marble finishes. If I had to pick just one, I’d go with tile because the maintenance factor alone makes it a winner. You can literally just mop it and watch it shine like new every single time, plus with the right finish, tile can look absolutely luxurious and sophisticated.
Q: What is your favorite flooring in your house?

Roca’s Jewels Glazed Porcelain in Maurice Black
A: For my future house, I’ve got this whole plan mapped out that combines the best of both worlds. The main living areas, kitchen, and high-traffic zones are all getting tile because these spaces need something practical that can handle daily life disasters. But select bedrooms are getting beautiful wood flooring because there’s something special about stepping onto warm, natural wood when you wake up. This combination gives me easy maintenance where I need it most, but warmth and comfort in the spaces where I want to relax.
