PLAN & PREP BEFORE YOUR FLOOR ARRIVES

4 TIPS FOR A SMOOTH FLOORING INSTALLATION

4 tips for a smooth flooring installation

Installing new floors doesn’t have to be daunting. Here are four key steps to consider before the flooring of your dreams makes its grand entrance:

#1 - Move Furniture

Who’s moving the furniture? Find out in advance if it’s your responsibility or the installer’s. Either way, be sure to remove all fragile items from the room.

#2 - Paint First

If you’re planning to paint, wallpaper, or do any other remodeling in the room, try to do it before the flooring is installed. Keep extra paint to touch up any post-installation nicks.

#3 - Remove Your Existing Floor

Make sure you know who’s removing your existing flooring. Sometimes the installer will do it. If not, you should make arrangements to have it removed.

#4 - Check Door Clearances

Measure door clearances before you have your new flooring installed. If the new floor is thicker than your existing floor, door bottoms may rub. Plan in advance to have someone shave or saw each door so it does not drag.
